Demonstrating Academic Excellence, 486 Named to the Prestigious Assumption College Dean's List
Assumption College has announced that 486 students have been named to the College's prestigious undergraduate Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a five-class, 15-credit semester. The Dean's List is announced twice per academic year, once at the completion of the fall semester, and again at the completion of the spring semester.

Coastal Carolina University honors fall graduates
A total of 719 students were eligible to walk in Coastal Carolina University's fall 2016 commencement, compared to 595 in 2015 and 590 in 2014. Two ceremonies were held in the HTC Center on campus, one on Friday, Dec. 16 and one on Saturday, Dec. 17. Speaking to Coastal Carolina University's largest class of fall semester graduation candidates, commencement speaker Susan O'Malley advised the graduates to follow their passions. "If you follow you passion, you'll find your purpose," said O'Malley, who, following her own early goals, became the first female president of a professional sports franchise at age 29 when she assumed the leadership of the NBA's Washington Bullets (now the Wizards).

Hofstra University Students Volunteer at the 2016 Presidential Debate
Almost 400 students worked as volunteers in areas ranging from media and production to credentialing and ticket distribution during the first presidential debate between candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, held at Hofstra University on Sept. 26, 2016. Along with a month-long series of panels discussions, lectures and performances on important election issues, the volunteer opportunity provided a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience that inspired students to engage in the democratic process and embrace their responsibility as citizens and voters. Hofstra University is the only institution in the nation to host three consecutive presidential debates, and its 2016 debate was the most widely watched in American history.

Volleyball Refuses to Surrender a Game in Two Matches
The Oswego State volleyball team hosted a six-team round of SUNYAC Pool Play and won two matches on Saturday to finish a perfect 3-0 on the weekend. Oswego is now 12-8 overall on the year and improve to 4-2 in the SUNYAC.

Volleyball Downs Cortland in SUNYAC Pool Play
The Oswego State volleyball team opened its own round of SUNYAC Pool Play with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 27-25) over Cortland in Max Ziel Gymnasium on Friday evening. Oswego's victory boosts the squad's overall record to 10-8 but more importantly bumps its conference record back to .500 (2-2).
